    Narrow valley and gentle slopes, very rocky with caliche outcrops, in desertscrub with Larrea, Opuntia imbricata, O. microdasys, O. stenopetala, Mimosa spp., Agave lecheguilla, etc. Common.

    Perennial herb from tap root; petals purple, banner with white "eye" with yellow center; mostly in fruit. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
