Sandy base of low basalt hills in shrub steppe with Artemisia spp., Purshia tridentata, Atriplex spinosa, Eriogonum spp., Phlox, Commandra, Stipa comata, Agropyron, Oryzopsis hymenoides, Chaenactis douglasii, Cryptantha leucophace, Hymenopappus filifolius, Arenaria franklinii. Uncommon.

Perennial herb to 30 cm tall, petals cream, keel and wing tips purplish. Phenology of specimen: Fruit, Flower.
