Habitat
On limestone; abundant in an arroyo; shrub-covered, nearly treeles mountainsides; limestone areas with Ceonothus, Ephedra, Mimosa, areas of rhyolitic rock with Opuntia, Mimosa, Eupatorium, Eriogonum.

Description
Shrub 1-2 m. high; flowers yellow, the upper petal dull reddish-orange; anthers black. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
