Brazil. Bahia. By Rio Cumbuca, about 3 km. N. of Mucugé on the Andarai road.

Habitat
On conglomerate sandstone rock with partly burnt-over vegetation among rocks by river and neighboring hillside.

Description
Small tree to ca. 7 m. high with fissured corky grey-brown bark and twisted branches. Leaves mid-green, scabrous. Calyx dark purple. Corolla violet, paler at base of upper lip with pattern of dark blue lines. Style violet-blue. Calyx weakly deflexed, in fruit. Flowers visited by humming birds. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
