Malvaceae
Hibiscus oculiroseus Britton
J. New York Bot. Gard. 4: 219-220, pi. 19. 1903.
Type: no mentioned. Britton did mention that Pitcher & Manda sent plants to New York Botanical Garden in 1896. The
flowering specimen collected by G. V. Nash on 17 Sep 1902 in the Herbaceous Grounds of New York Botanical Garden
was marked as Type by N. L. Britton, so that should be considered the type. Another specimen collected by Nash on 27
Sep 1899 exists at NY, which has mature, open fruits; it was labeled by Britton as H. oculiroseus, also, but not marked as
Type by him.
