Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the slopes of Serra de Tepequém determined to be western facing in Mun. Amajari, Roraima. Used Google Maps - Earth and Terrain Views to locate the western facing slopes of Serra de Tepequém. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the beginning and end segment of western facing slopes of the mountain then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along the western facing slopes nearest to the midpoint of the line; used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic midpoint of the western slopes, at the location that can be considered "lower" slopes, as stated in the locality description. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the western-facing slope area. Input coordinates, linear extent (8670.0 m), and measurement error (50 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Defined Area).
