Herb, 80 cm high, the base becoming woody in age and ca. 1 cm in diameter. Branches dark green changing to brown, nodes slightly purple. Leaves dark green, lower side somewhat paler; veines light green. Calyx green, persistent; flower base whitish. Berries erect, dark green changing to red, shiny.
