Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to locate the precise location of "Uaribé;" instead, georeferenced to the land directly across Rio Negro from the approximate geographic center of Serra Jacamim. Using Google Maps - Earth View and Terrain View, located the approximate geographic center of Serra Jacamim, located along Rio Negro in Mun. Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, Amazonas. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line from the geographic center of Serra Jacamim to the shore directly across Rio Negro. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates at this location, which is directly north of Serra Jacamim. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent of Serra Jacamim by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the mountainous area. Input coordinates, linear extent (2770.0 m), and measurement error (25 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Defined Area).
