  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Camoji (synonymous with Igarapé Camoji) in Roraima, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Camoji, a tributary of Rio Catrimani. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the mouth of Rio Camoji (confluence of Rio Camoji and Rio Catrimani) and the headwaters of Rio Camoji (approximated through the dense forest cover), then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along Rio Camoji nearest to the midpoint of the line; used Canadensys Lat/long Crosshairs to find the coordinates, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Rio Camoji. Input coordinates, linear extent (14212.5 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainly radius.
