Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Negro between Ilha Providencia and Ilha Arara in Amazonas, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the islands Ilha Providencia and Ilha Arara in the Rio Negro. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the geographic center of Ilha Providencia and the approximate geographic center of Ilha Arara then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint along Rio Negro. Measured to approximately this halved distance from one extreme of this segment of river toward the center; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates, on the adjacent shore of Ilha Alelu (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of this segment of river, 32481.8 m), and measurement error (.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Between two Places).
