  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find precise location of "Igarapé Lobishomen;" georeferenced to the geographic center of Rio Cuieiras. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Cuieiras in Amazonas, Brazil. Used distance measurement tool to measure a straight line starting at the beginning of Rio Cuieiras (at mouth, where it branches from Rio Negro) to the approximated end of the river (where the river divides into two separate rivers); halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of the river. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint, on land adjacent to the river. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the furthest point along the river, 18951.6 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
