Habitat
In wet stony soil of a steep wooded incline.

Description
A rather large sturdy tree, stem 2 feet thick, 30 feet high; leaves horizontal, also rigid and chartaceous, shallowly folded, tips recurved, much paler green beneath; inflorescence erect , 2-3 flowered, calyx green pubescent; petals 5, snow white, the radial anthers ochraleucus, the erect ones purplish streaked along the middle, pistil purpureus. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
