Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Assumed "above" to mean upstream. Georeferenced to an offset of 1 km upstream along Caño Pimichín from the village of Pimichín in Maroa, Amazonas, Venezuela. Used Google Maps - Earth View to locate the village of Pimichín along Caño Pimichín. Beginning at the approximate geographic center of the shoreline of Pimichín (2.866280, -67.536924), used the Google Maps - Measurement Tool to measure approximately 1 km (1.02 km) upstream; used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the offset along the stream. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the approximate linear extent of the starting location, the village of Pimichín, by measuring from the approximate geographic center of the village to the geographic center of the nearest named place, Yavita, then halving this distance (this area is very remote, so linear extent is likely over-inflated). Input coordinates, linear extent (6.135 km), measurement error (0.01 km), and distance precision (1 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
