you tell from the fragmentary material herewith whether or not
it iisAstragalus marcidug Greene? Thia came from a\ locality a few milaa
aouthwe8t of Faisano Faaa in the Davis Mountains in the northeastern part
of Presidio County, Texas* The plant was new to me,\ although I have been
pretty well oyer that region. In Fart 7 of Volume sion page 441 the
key separates Nos* 10 and 11 from Nos. 12-15 by "pods distinctly arcuate”
and "pods straight or nearly so on the upper suture." I note in the
description of marcidus that the pods are slightly arched« If my material
does not represent marcidus, may 1 obtain a loan of a specimen of that species
for study in connection with material to be collected this season? I do
not desire a loan at this time, but only in the event that these is reason
for collection of further material and for comparison then with authentic
material of marcidus. Or if you need better material to decide whether
we have collected marcidus we can have it collected next month.
I shall deeply appreciate your courtesy in this connection.
Vexy sincerely yours,
