  • Habitat

    Primary dune just above high-tide.

  • Description

    Shrub, the stem buried in the sand; leaves clustered at apex of stem, the cluster barely above the sand, consisting of about 12 blades, the blades dark green, lustrous; plant sterile. This is the only individual of this species seen on this strand. There are no habitations within several kilometers of this site and the only developed areas within a kilometer is a state park to the north and some communications outbuildings to the south. No cultivated Cycas are present at either site. This plant is either spontaneous or was planted here (deliberately or accidentally), but no strong evidence either way was apparent at time of collection. Cycas revoluta is commonly cultivated in the surrounding communities. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
