soil overlying white powdery clay, in
juniper grassland.
Stems prostrate tips ascending; root
crowns up to 5 cm below surface; stems on
some like rhizomes, arising 2 dm. from
crown; flowers lavender, the banner with
a white center with lavender veins; claws
of wings and lower side of keel pink; tip
of keel violet; pods one-celled, villous
inside, the walls about 1-0.5 mm. thick,
anthocyanic.
