  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the western shore of Lago Tefé in Mun. Tefé, Amazonas. Used Google Maps - Satellite View to locate Lago Tefé, which stems from Rio Solimões. Used visual evidence to determine the approximate geographic center of the lake; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the adjacent western shore of the approximate geographic center of Lago Tefé. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of what may be considered the western shore of Lago Tefé. Input coordinates, linear extent (31580.0 m), and measurement error (5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Defined Area).
