Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise location of the first waterfall of Rio Pacaás Novos. Georeferenced to the portion of the Rio Pacaás Novos within the mountainous area of Serra dos Pacaás Novos, in accordance with similar locality descriptions. Using Google Maps - Terrain and Satellite Views, located Rio Pacaás Novos within the region of Serra dos Pacaás Novos in Rondônia. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the beginning of the river within the mountainous area and the headwaters of the river (also located within mountainous region), then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along the river nearest to the midpoint of the line; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates, on the adjacent shore of the river (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Input coordinates, linear extent (25682.6 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
