  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the island of Arquipélago de Anavilhanas (synonymous with Ilha das Anavilhanas) that is located directly across (west) from the mouth of Rio Cuieiras. Using Google Maps, located the mouth of Rio Cuieiras (a tributary of Rio Negro) and the location of Arquipélago de Anavilhanas (grouping of islands in Rio Negro) nearby. Used distance measurement tool to measure directly west from the mouth of Rio Cuieiras to the coast of the nearest island, and noted this distance. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates at this location. Halved the distance between the mouth of Rio Cuieiras and the coast of the island to find linear extent. Input coordinates, linear extent (3200.49 m.), and measurement error (.01 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
