Description
Stems clustered, 4 m tall, 4 cm diameter with leaf sheaths. Sheaths with dark brown tomentum, densely covered with rows of flat, black spines, spines longer at sheath apices; knee absent; ocreas short, densely spiny; petioles 21-24 cm long, also with ring.
