Coastal sage scrub and transitional grassland; along gullies. With
Plagiobothyrs, Lasthenia, Dichelostemma and others.
Rosetted annual 30-50cm; stem mostly decumbent, peeling;
inflorescence nodding, petals yellow with 1 red dot at base.
