  • Georeferencing Method

    Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the geographic center of the airstrip of the Missão Surucucu airport in Roraima, Brazil. Using Google Earth and Google Maps - Satellite View, located the airstrip of the airport in Missão Surucucu (Serra dos Surucucus). Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find the total extent of the airstrip then halved this distance to approximate the location of the geographic center of the airstrip. Measured to approximately this halved distance from one extreme of the airstrip toward the center; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the airstrip, 760.914 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Defined Area).
