    Growing on north-facing slope in a grass-dominated shrubby savanna (shrub dominated just to the east) . Growing with Achantherum sp., ... [see herbarium label for long list of associated species]. Common. In gravelly/rocky & sandy loam over limestone (Crago, stony-Rock outcrop-Pensore, stony complex, 25-60% slpes; loamy skeletal, carbonatic, frigid Aridic to Lithic Calciustepts).

    Tree 35 ft tall, trunk diameter 1 ft, this species apparently proliferating here because many young trees present. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
