Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the shore of Rio Purus between Santa Luzia and Arumã in Amazonas, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the shore of Santa Luzia along Rio Purus, which is very nearby Lago do Sacado (relating to name "Santa Luzia do Sacado" stated in locality description) and located the shore of Arumã. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line starting at the geographic center of the shore of Santa Luzia to the geographic center of the shore of Arumã; halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of this segment along Rio Purus. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the approximate midpoint of the segment along Rio Purus. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of this segment of Rio Purus, 14203.4 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
