  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to mouth of Rio Tarumã, where it branches off from Rio Negro. Using Google Maps, located the confluence of Rio Tarumã and Rio Negro. Approximated the geographic center of the confluence of the waterways (on adjacent land), then used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates. Used measurement tool to find linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the confluence, on the shore. Input coordinates, linear extent (1427.63 m.), and measurement error (.01 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Mouth or headwaters of a river, confluence of waterways, trailhead).
