Habitat
steep slope with outcropping limestone; semideciduous moist forest; prominent species at this site: Amyris sp, Plumeria sp, Comocladia sp, Bursera simaruba, Manilkara sp, Clusia sp, Metopium browneii, Celtis sp, Anthurium schlechtendalianum, Selaginella sp, Adiantum tenerum, Anemia adiantifolia, Gausia maya, Vitex gaumeri, Pedilanthus tithymiloides.

Description
Trees 4-6 m tall; stems solitary, to ca 5 cm radius near the base; bark thin; sap thin, soon turning black when exposed to air; leaves crowded at apex of stems, the leaflets 5-9 per side, basal pair smallest; inflorescences shorter than the leaves, ascending at ca 45 degree angle; flowers dark purple, solitary ants observed methodically visiting every flower. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
