    Coastal forest, ravine (kloof, gorge), sea; leaf litter, well-drained, loam & black turf, on quartzite; shade, slope<15° gentle, E facing. Vegetation characteristic of Knysna Coastal Forest (subtropical moist broadleaf temperate rainforest).

  • Description

    Fern, to 1.2m leaves; spores in clusters at leaf base on underside. Second rhizome accumulated phosphate from soil, acts as storage organ (pers. comm. John Allen). Common native. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
