Scrambler; rootstock perennial, aerial parts annual, stems arising from a woody taproot, covered with coarse hairs; fruit oblong, light green with dark green stripes, yellow when ripe, with soft spines; leeaves green, ovate or elliptic, deeply divided into 3–5 lobes, hairy. Common, native. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
