United States of America. New Jersey. Cumberland Co. Downe township, in the middle of Bear Swamp, around 0.6 mi ESE of Frames Corner.

Habitat
Growing in an intermittent, icy stream in a shady, old-growth swamp forest on wet, peaty soil (Manahawkin muck, 0 to 2 percent slopes, frequently flooded; sandy or sandy-skeletal, siliceous, dysic, mesic Terric Haplosaprists). Acer rubrum, Clethra alnifolia, Fagus gradifolia, etc. Locally common, but otherwise rare.

Aquatic, essentially submerged moss.
