United States of America. Iowa. The LaHart Wildlife Management Area is owned by the Iowa Dept of Natural Resources and about 3 miles SW of Lovilia. A very steep to vertical bank occurs S of Whites Creek and about 4 meters W of ravine. This site is on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain.

Habitat
The bank is composed of thinly bedded shale and another, more solid rock. pogonatum pensilvanicum is infrequent on shale.
