United States of America. Minnesota. Wabasha Co. McCarthy Lake Wildlife Management Area is owned by the Minnesota DNR. It is about 1.9 miles S/SE of Kellogg and E of US Hwy 61. A rich fen occurs in a former channel of the Zumbro River.

Habitat
Sphagnum teres occurs in an open, floating mat portion of the fen associated with Salix pedicellaris. it occurs just N of a Betula glandulifera thicket. The collection comes from a hummock of Sphagnum teres that is approximately 1.5 m by 1.5 m by 03.m high.
