Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise locality of "Lugar Raimunda" along Rio Paru do Oeste; instead, georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Paru do Oeste in Mun. Oriximiná, Pará. Used Google Maps - Earth View to locate Rio Paru do Oeste, a tributary of Rio Trombetas. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the approximate geographic center of the mouth of Rio Paru do Oeste (confluence of Rio Paru do Oeste and Rio Trombetas) and the headwaters of the river (approximated through the dense forest cover), then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along Rio Paru do Oeste nearest to the midpoint of the line; used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate midpoint of Rio Paru do Oeste, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the river. Input coordinates, linear extent (218010.0 m), and measurement error (50 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
