Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Trombetas in município Oriximiná, Pará. Referred to map provided by "Ilustrações do Rio Trombetas" from BIT: Banco de Informações e Mapas de Transportes website for location information of Rio Trombetas (http://www2.transportes.gov.br/bit/04-hidro/3-rios-terminais/rios/00-Figuras/trajeto-rio/Rio%20Trombetas.jpg). Using the reference map and Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Trombetas, a tributary of Rio Amazonas. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line starting at the mouth of the river (at the confluence of Rio Trombetas and Rio Amazonas) to the approximate end of this river (where it divides into two unnamed rivers); halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of Rio Trombetas. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint of the river, on the northern shore. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Rio Trombetas, 181345 m.), and measurement error (1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
