Scattered on steep rocky talus slopes below cliffs. With gambel oak-mountain mahogany association. Gray-white soil, pH ca. 7.7.

Corollas scarlet, pendent; anthers tan, abaxial pair ± exserted at mouth. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
