Habitat
Dense population in low-lying moist level area, sympatric with equally large population of Rapatea paludosa, flowering at same time.

Description
Terrestrial herb to 1.2m, flowers yellow. Always one inflorescence per plant (or ramet), few flowers open at a time. Copious mucilage in axils of leaves. Base of outer leaves speckled with purple.
