  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Mapuéra between the waterfalls Cachoeira do Tabuleiro and Cachoeira do Tabuleirinho in Pará, Brazil. Referred to MBendi: Information Services website, "Cachoeira do Tabuleiro - Waterfall near Porteira, Pará, Brazil" webpage for location information for the waterfalls along Rio Mapuéra (http://www.mbendi.com/a_sndmsg/facility.asp?I=198568). Using the reference map and Google Maps (Satellite View), located the waterfalls along Rio Mapuéra. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line beginning at the geographic center of Cachoeira do Tabuleiro to the geographic center of Cachoeira do Tabuleirinho; halved this distance to approximate the midpoint of this segment along Rio Mapuéra. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint, on the adjacent land. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the segment, 9027.52 m.), and measurement error (.01 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: River, stream, road, path).
