Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Using Google Maps, located the road which provides access to the Balbina Hydroelectric Dam, AM-240, which meets BR-174 at approximately km. 97 from Manaus. Used the measurement tool to measure a straight line along the start and end of this road (from the intersection with BR-174 to the Hydroelectric Dam). Chose a point along this road that was closest to the midpoint. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates. Input coordinates, linear extent (the distance from the midpoint on the road to the farthest point on the feature that is within the administrative boundaries specified by the locality description, 32319.6 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.), into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: River, stream. road, path).
