Semishade, hillsides. Upper Sonoran: Digger pines, Douglas oaks. Common. Dec. granite, red clay.

Description
Tree 25 ft., spread 25 ft., trunk diameter 20 inches. This grove consists of only a few thousand trees at most. The bark is rough gray and fibrous on the main trunk, reddish on the branches, but not really smooth. Mature cones are mostly gray and large. A rancher at th lower end of Back Canyon said he knew about the cypresses, and that no others were known to him in the region, and that he had run cattle there all his life. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
