Habitat
Growing among the shrubbery in the understory along a damp canyon in coniferous-oak forest zone; in close proximity with Senecio sanguisorbae DC., S. toluccanus DC., S. callosus Sch. Bip., S. barba-johannis DC. and raiate individuals of S. angulifolius DC.

Description
rays inconspicuous; lower leaves palmate with 7+ lobes; shrub; 1.5-3 m. tall; Coarse, weak shrub, the lower stems mostly unbranched; herbage glandular-pudescent.
