    In degraded forest with Cedrela, Ceiba, Enterlobium and Leucaena pulverulenta. Infrequent.

  • Description

    Large tree, heavily branched with a broad spreading crown to 25 m. ht. Heavily covered with epiphytes on upper branches. ark thick, mid grey-brown, vertically fissured. Leaves discolorous, bottle green and glossy above, paler mid green below.Ripe pods, bright pillar box red, tardily dehiscent, revealing shiny black seeds which remain hanging from pod valves after dehiscence. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
