Location
Mexico. Puebla. Coxcatlan Mun. 8 km ENE of Coxcatlan on the E side of the Tehuacan Valley, close to the road running up towards the Sierra Mazateca.

Habitat
On bare rocky roadside cuttings in an area of degraded, dy deciduous forest on steep slopes above the Tehuacan Valley with Acacia, Lysiloma, Cercdium and Tecoma. Locally common.

Description
Small, compact branchy shrub to 0. 5 m ht. Bark mid reddish brown, smooth, speckled with paler brown lenticels, inner bark green. Unripe pods green, ripe pods mid orange-brown, pods held erect above shoots and opening from the apex like those of Calliandra. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
