scattered on dry rocky slopes with skeletal soils over calcareous bedrock in degraded dry forest with Bursera, Mimosa and Acacia velvae. locally frequent.

Calix and corolla pale whitish green. Flower heads arranged on erect terminal shoots with the leaves suppressed. Stamen filaments and style creamy white, anthers pink, style protruding beyond the anthers.; Arbol: tree; to 3 m ht; Bark mid grey, patchy wi.
