    Scattered on low, sandy coastal slopes with Caesalpina pannosa, Stylosanthes, Prosopis, Tecoma, Cercidium, Tephrosia and Indigofera. On sandy hills immeiately inland from the coastal dunes.

  • Description

    Small,compact, multiple-stemmed shrub; to 1.5 m ht.; Bark smooth, ligth brownish grey. Leaves thickened, large almost succulent, mid to dark green with a grey-blue hue, possibly representing a coastal adaptation. Flowers very showy, unscented, calyx and corrola pale yellow-green, the corrola lobes strongly tinged reddish, stamen filaments, style and anthers bright pillar-box red. A few unripe pods bright green. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.

Small, compact, multiple-stemmed shrub to 1.5m ht. Bark smooth, light brownish grey. Leaves thickened, large almost succulent, mid to dark green with a grey-blue hue, possibly representing a coastal adaptation.
Flowers very showy, unscented, calyx and corolla pale yellow green, the corolla lobes strongly tinged reddish, stamen filaments, style and anthers bright pillar-box red. A few unripe pods, bright green.
Locally frequent, scattered on low sandy coastal slopes with Caesalpinia pannosa, Stylosanthes, Prosopis,
Tecoma, Cercidium, Tephrosia and Indigofera.
