Shrub-covered, nearly treeless mountainsides ca. 20 km. east of
Rincon de Romos, road to Asientos, between Cerro Altamira and
Cerro de San Juan, elevation 2200-2450 m; limestone areas with
Ceanothus, Ephedra, Mimosa; areas of rhyolitic rock with
Opuntia, Mimosa, Eupatorium, Eriogonum.
Very abundant on soil over volcanic
rocks, and on rocks above, covering
large areas like a turf among shrubs*
