Mexico. Jalisco. Steep mountains, 11-12 miles south of Talpa de Allende, in the headwaters of a west branch of Río de Talpa.

Habitat
Barranca above a rapid clear stream in dense forest of Quercus, Capinus, Distylium, Magnolia, and Podocarpus, with pine forest on the ridges above. Abundant in the barranca.

Slender, treelike; 5-6 m high, 4-6 cm diam.; stamens crimson. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
