    Low caespitose perennial, mats to 3 dm across, basal leaves variable in size, blades 6-15 mm long; margins plane, inflorescence capitate on tomentose scapes to 1 dm high, perianth white-cream turning pinkish to dark red, glabrous. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
