    Mostly barren hills; on steeply eroding side slopes of tan-buff sandy-clay hills with Atriplex, Ephedra and Cammisonia.

    Loosely caespitose perennial to 2 dm acrss, leaves erect, ovate to orbicular, inflorescence capitate on tomentose scapes to 1.5 dm, perianth yellow, glabrous. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
