Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. The definition of upriver is toward or situated at a point nearer to the source of the river, in other words the opposite direction from the mouth. In this case, since no distance is specified, georeferenced to the midpoint between Rio Anajás at Anajás and the headwaters of Rio Anajás. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Anajás on Ilha de Marajó, Pará. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure the segment of river from the geographic center of the shore of Anajás (along Rio Anajás) to the headwaters of Rio Anajás (the farthest extent of Rio Anajás, where it divides into two unnamed rivers), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of the segment. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint, on the adjacent shore of Rio Anajás. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the segment, 32699.0 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
