Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise location of "campos de Ariramba;" georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Jaramacarú (synonymous with Igarapé Ariramba) in Obidos, Pará. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Jaramacarú, a tributary of Rio Cuminá. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line starting at the mouth of the river (confluence of Rio Jaramacarú and Rio Cuminá) to the approximate source of the river (where two unnamed rivers meet to form Rio Jaramacarú), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of the river. Measured to approximately this calculated distance from one extreme of the river toward the center, used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint of the river, on the adjacent shore. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Rio Jaramacarú, 25281.6 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
