Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. No indication if locality description is referring to Lago Janauari or Paraná Janauari. Both waterways are connected; Paraná Janauari leads into Lago Janauari from Rio Negro. Because of this, georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Lago Janauari, extending the linear extent to encompass the entire stretch of Paraná Janauari. Used Google Maps - Earth View to find Lago/Paraná Janauari, directly across Rio Negro from the city of Manaus in Mun. Iranduba, Amazonas. Used Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of Lago Janauari, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Paraná Janauari (confluence of Paraná Janauari and Rio Negro). Input coordinates, linear extent (6080.0 m), and measurement error (5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Defined Area).
